Cbse board exam date 2025- Overview

Following is an overview of CBSE exam date 2025:

1. Start and end dates for Class 10 & 12: For both the classes the exam will start from February 2025. The end dates differ for both. For class 10, the exam will end by March 18, 2025 and for class 12, exam will end by April 4, 2025

2. Supplementary exam dates: In case if you miss an exam there are supplementary dates as well which are as follows:

For class 10: July 15–22, 2025

For class 12: July 15, 2025 (single session, 10:30 AM–1:30 PM)

1. Class 10 portion highlights:

CBSE has released the revised syllabus for class 10 for 2025-26 and the subject wise PDF’s are available online.

The exam pattern now includes:

a. 50% competency-based questions which are based on real world case studies, and higher order thinking skills (HOTS).

b. 30% short or long answer questions

c. 20% Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s)

There are also new additions in subjects of Social Science (Learning Outcomes at the Secondary Stage), Science (Assessment of Practical Skills), English (Words and Expressions and marking scheme changed), and Mathematics (marking scheme changed).

2. Class 12 portion highlights:

The Class 12 portion has also been updated as per the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The exam pattern now includes;

a. 50% direct questions

b. 30% short or long answer questions which will be understanding based

c. 20% competency based which will include case studies and MCQ’s

There are also portion changes in subjects of Biology (Sacred Groves and additional supplementary), Chemistry, Physics Practical (instead of 5 now there are 6 experiments), Accountancy (non-programmable calculators permitted), Political Science (certain chapters are removed and new chapters are added).

What is changing in Exams and Curriculums?

1. Two board exam systems for class 10: First from February 17 to March 6. The second one acts as an improvement exam or voluntary attempt which is from May 5 to May 20.

2. Experiential and competency based: This change is done with respect to NEP and NCFSE (National Curriculum Framework for Secondary Education) which focus more on skill based learning.

3. Art Integrated projects: these are mandatory from class 1 to 10 which must be eco-friendly and submitted online.

4. Flexibility in streams: From class 11 to class 12, students can choose between science and math levels as per their interest. This was introduced under STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

How to Prepare:

1. Download PDF’s for studying: You can download syllabus and portion PDF from CBSE site or any online trusted platform to start early preparation to succeed in your exam

2. Align Revision with Portion Changes: Pay attention to the changes in syllabus and portion and plan your revision accordingly. Focus on newly added chapters, practice competency based questions from sample papers, take a look at NCERT textbooks and the revised marking patterns for each subject in order to avoid confusion.

3. Use the two exam window systems smartly: When attempting the first one, give it seriously, preparing as much as you can. Give the second one for improvement or a comfort attempt.

4. Balance learning: While learning focus on conceptual understanding, practice, revision and application and skill based questions to get a hang of them.

5. Prepare art-integrated projects: (For class 10) start preparing for the art-integrated projects as early as possible choosing an eco-friendly approach to avoid last minute hurry.

1. Stick to NCERT books first: Many of the CBSE questions come from NCERT books directly or indirectly. So it's necessary to prepare it thoroughly.

2. Analyse Sample Papers: Solve as many sample papers as you can to prepare yourself well for exams.

3. Focus on competency-based questions: Focus on practicing case studies, real life applications and HOTS.

4. Make a Timetable: A structured timetable always helps in balancing studies with other personal activities dedicating at least 5 hours in a day for studies.
