Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Study the size, weight and shape of products to find the pallet pattern and stacking method that fits the most units into each load.
Check load and pallet specifications, such as the roughly 1,000 kg rating of many pallets, against the limits of racks, trucks and containers.
Compare pallet types, including stringer and block pallets, wood, plastic and metal, and reusable heavy-duty versus single-use lightweight pallets, and recommend the most cost-effective option.
Work out how many pallets fit into a truck, trailer or shipping container, and give loading plans to dispatch and warehouse teams.
Track packaging waste, product damage and transport cost per unit, and report the savings from each change.
Check compliance requirements, such as ISPM 15 for wooden pallets that cross international borders and reuse rules in regions like the EU.
Work with packaging, warehouse and transport teams and suppliers to test new layouts in trial runs and measure the results.
