A film producer is the person who turns a script into a finished film or web series by raising the money, hiring the team, and managing the budget, schedule and release. Where a director leads the creative work on set, the producer leads the business and logistics that make the production possible.
In India, producers fund projects through their own savings, bank or personal loans, pre-sales to OTT platforms and broadcasters, co-production partners and outside investors. The same basic path applies to Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films, though each industry has its own studios, financiers and networks.
No single degree is compulsory. Most people who enter the industry combine a film or media course after Class 12 with a few years as a production assistant on real shoots, where they learn budgeting, scheduling and crew management. Building a record of delivered projects and strong contacts matters as much as any certificate.
