IPS vs CBI Exam
The IPS Exam is the part of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) which is conducted at national level for recruitment to Indian Police Service (IPS), along with IAS, IFS. How to Join CBI
To join the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), candidates typically follow two primary direct recruitment routes through national-level examinations or join via deputation from other police services.
SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam
- This is the easy way to become Investigator grade II Officer. Candidature is open for Sub-Inspector (SI) also by passing this National Examination.
- Process: It comprises of Tier-I (objective type questions in reasoning ability, general awareness, quantitative aptitude and English), Tier-II (computer-based) & (Tier-III).
- Post-Selection: Selected candidates receive a rigorous 32-59-week training at CBI Academy in Ghaziabad.
UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE): This is meant for the senior Group-A posts.
- IPS Path: Majority of the prominent CBI officers enter the service from Indian Police Service (IPS). They can be appointed to the CBI after serving in state cadres.
